Course Times/Dates:

This Class is given on selected weekends. This class is usually given at least once a month. First day of this 2-day class is on Saturday, the second day of class is the next day on Sunday: 7:00 am to 10:00 am

This class is longer than most PPITH classes due to the increased range time. This class is given at least twice month.

Private classes for small groups can also be arranged, contact the Instructor for details.

If you are signing up a group of two students or more, please submit one registration request and add everyone's full name in the comments section of the registration form.

Course Fee:

$165.00 per person, if 2 or more in your party $140.00 per person. Cash or (All major cards accepted, no checks). Payment is expected on the first day of class.

Course Certificate:

NRA Personal Protection In The Home Training Certificate is awarded for completion of this course. Students may also request a Massachusetts State Police Certificate of Course Completion at no extra charge. This certificate is recognized by the Mass. State Police and is required for proof of training. It should be submitted along with applications for resident's Massachusetts' FID cards, LTC's, or non-resident state applications. Most other states, including Maine, will accept the NRA certificate.

Course Description:

This course provides you with the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the proper use of a handgun in a defensive situation. To register for a class, use the email link below. You will be informed you have been added to a class list and will receive a request for your confirmed participation weeks prior to the class. It also provides you with information on your rights as a citizen regarding self-defense. The student will be able to make informed intelligent decisions with respect to firearm types, purchasing, basic use and handguns. Classroom time consists of discussion, handling, hands-on loading/unloading, video and live instruction. It includes comprehensive instruction on firearm safety, ammunition, handgun functionality, fundamentals of marksmanship, introduction to defensive tactics and the legal aspects of using a firearm for self-defense. This course also covers home defense and covers non-lethal protection techniques. This class is geared for the individual starting out with handguns as well as the experienced shooter.
The First day of class is held in our new classroom at the range. Students should bring notebook and pen, and a snack if you like. We take a short lunch break, and there are many local businesses that can provide lunch. You can always bring your lunch as well. We'll be shooting on the second day of this class, so there is no need to bring a firearms to the first day of instruction
This course includes 3 hours of range time instruction with students' own firearm or MFL rented firearms (rental fee is an additional cost), targets, eye and hearing protection are included at no cost. MFL Range ammunition is required for rentals at an additional cost. If you are bringing your own handguns, you may also bring your own ammo. Students will shoot between 100 to 200 rounds each.

Course Instructor:

Thomas Brown is a Senior Tactical Firearms Instructor with the New Hampshire Tactical Arts Group, a Lethal Force Instructor for New Hampshire, a Massachusetts State Firearms Instructor, an NRA Law Enforcement Instructor, a LEOSA Instructor, a Force-on-force Law Enforcement Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, a defensive knife Instructor and a Chief Range Safety Officer. His training includes courses from Lethal Force Institute, Defense Training International, Calibre Press, Combative Concepts, Personal Security Institute, Sig Academy (LE Instructor) and Simunitions. Thomas Brown has also appeared in court as an expert witness in the areas of firearms, safety and training, and is a Graduate of the Law of Self Defense Instructor Program. He is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors & Armorers Association (MLEFIAA).
